Central Motor Speedway is located on the Queenstown / Cromwell Highway approx 6km from town and is nestled in a natural amphitheatre which provides excellent spectator viewing and is regularly known for the "Rumble under the Mountains"

Central Motor Speedway is in its 28th year of operation, is the only track in Central Otago and is one of 3 Division 1 tracks in the Southern region.

Central Motor Speedway runs Super Saloons, A grade Saloons, Sprint Cars, Production Saloons, Youth Ministocks, Sidecars, Streetstocks and Adult Ministocks.

Ranked in the top ten tracks in New Zealand, we provide safe, fun family entertainment with local participants and Otago, South Island and NZ wide championships. Aside from the adult racing, the Central Motor Speedway also puts a great amount of effort into the youth of our community. We also invite community groups /clubs to help us on race days with general jobs in return for a donation to their group/club.

Representing Cromwell in this years South Island Interislander team are Mark Vincent in the 8T Chev Camaro, and Russell Erskine in the 83T Chev Camaro. Reserve driver is Phil Burgess in the 95T Ford Mustang.
